We drove along Highway 20 for the first time this month and saw and heard many birds, including some familiar birds in breeding plumage. Could someone please identify these two birds.

First one is canary sparrow, and the second is white crescent-face duck.

Field guides are really, umm, nice.

Just so there's no confusion, what rawalker said is correct at least for the Chilcotin area which is in British Columbia, Canada.
Stevej, the same or similar birds may be called canary sparrow and white crescent-face duck in the UK or Europe but not here.
