FWIW, the Turnstones often forage along the waterline and much closer photos are possible. They are now in breeding plumage. The Red-necked Grebes will shortly be gone (if not already) and heading for their breeding areas. Last year I caught a pair doing a mating dance on the water just prior to leaving.
