Hi Dennis,

Yes, the smaller goose in the foreground looks like a Cackling Goose. There are a number of them around right now can be found up and down the Saanich peninsula. As with canada goose, we get a number of different subspecies of cackling goose wintering in our area (Minima, Richardson's, Traverner's, Aleutian). I defer on taking at guess at the subspecies we are looking at and will leave it up to others.
