I came across this photo recently and am trying to id the bird. Merlin says American Pipit, but the beak shape and color is making me doubt it.

I am thinking Robin as looks like red belly, beak shape is about right and feather on the back are about right as well. It is a wacky, old angle and I suspect the sunlight on the bird is making the eye appear weird.

Franken'robin maybe?

I am having trouble gauging the size of the bird. Robin sized or this sparrow size and the image makes it appear bigger. Thoughts?
