 Post subject: Gadwall? Panama Flats, Victoria

I was at Panama Flats, Victoria BC today and took these pictures of a duck I am not familiar with. I spent a lot of time trying to identify it on-line and in books and think that it might be a Gadwall pair. Can anyone confirm or tell me what it might be? Ducks were a long way off so not the best photos.
