I was asked to post about the Wild Research Pelagic Trip which will be happening on May 7th, 2017. This will coincide with the 2017 Tofino Shorebird Festival that is running from May 5-7th this year. This will provide for a great weekend of activities and fun for all levels of birders. More info on the shorebird festival and the great events they will be offering can be found here: http://raincoasteducation.org/events/to ... d-festival
This year’s trip will depart from Ucluelet on Sunday May 7th, 2017. They will set sail once again at 7 am on the M.V. Frances Barkley for 7 hours of pelagic birding and photography.
The cost per person is $225 for WildResearch members if you pay before the 31st of March and $275 thereafter. You must be a current WildResearch member at the time of the pelagic trip in order to participate on the trip. If you are not currently a member of WildResearch you may purchase an annual membership for $25 (students) or $30 (general/adult)
There is room for 90 participants on the ship.
This trip is a very important fundraising event for WildResearch and funds raised will be spent on their conservation and avian monitoring programs including Iona Island Bird Observatory.
For details on the pelagic birding trip visit: http://wildresearch.ca/news/pelagic-trip/
You can register for the trip here: http://wildresearch.ca/news/pelagic-trip/join-us/
Also I will be running a young birder field trip on this trip as well and details on that can be found here: http://birding.bc.ca/community/viewtopi ... 14&p=84392
Cheers,
Mel
