Jan 9 Tue 12:30pm - 12 Ruddy Ducks on Swan Lake today (non-breeding plumage). A lot of baths and preening going on. Northern Pintail in the flooded field near Tuesday Pond.
Dec 10 nature walk count included Canvasbacks and a Harlan's RTHA in the tree by Tuesday Pond but I didn't see these today.

That sounds like a nice find. I don't think we have them on Vancouver Island, but I'm not sure.

Jan 21_2018 Sunday-was out at Swan Lake and checked the LIST at Nature House. there were 17 Ruddy ducks counted Jan 14th but they seem to be gone now.
got a pic of a beautiful Red-tailed Hawk in the cottonwood by Tuesday Pond at 2pm. it had a band on its leg. Bald Eagle flew over the lake, 2 heron, 2 Cormorant, a bunch of Lesser Scaup and some Ring-necked, RWBL, a Pied-billed Grebe.
