It has been an interesting start to the season up here at the Tatlayoko Lake Bird Observatory. After a wet summer locally we were unsure of what to expect but so far we have been catching birds at a consistent clip with 283 birds banded after 9 day of operation. Unsurprisingly, Swainson's Thrush have been our most abundant bird, accounting for around a quarter of the catch in our nets. We've had a few highlights including our first ever banded Spotted Sandpiper and two Anna's Hummingbird at a nearby local residence.
