Does anyone know whether trees that house bald eagle nests are somehow protected? A nesting pair are starting to rebuild a nest that has been used successfully for the last three years (reportedly 8 years of continuous use at least). Unfortunately for them this area has recently been sold and slated for human development. Construction season for everyone I guess.

Yep they are , phone the Conservation Officier. In my town they even have built extra ones(telephone poles with platforms) Bill.

Thanks Bill. Have eagles successfully nested using the poles? I've seen it with osprey, never with eagles. Good for Campbell River - I'll be interested to find out if Sooke has a conservation officer.

Your welcome Linda, yes if the CO doesn't do anything then the Dept. of Forests will.It's the yelling that gets it done.Also the trees with nests are protected and occasionally perch trees. Bill.
