I am currently in Vanier Park, and there are what appear to be 4 Greater White Fronted Geese, mingling with 8 -10 Canada Geese. I am wondering if the Bean Goose could have been one of these, these definitely have white at the base of their bills.

Hi all, it's been confirmed as a juvenile Greater White-fronted goose, still an interesting bird, especially for those in the area.

Hi Everyone,

I have seen a group of five of these geese a few times in the last three weeks around Sunset Beach in English Bay. They are always with a larger flock of Canadas. They seem to be wintering here.

I went out there again this morning after missing them yesterday. There are 5 of them and they were feeding on the front lawn of the Vancouver Academy of Music. I met Sandy when I was there (it was a pleasure to meet you). I will be posting a picture on my blog later this evening with a write up of my days events. They are indeed Greater White-fronted. There were 2 adults and 3 juveniles.
