The annual Open House at OWL (3800 72nd Street, Delta) is happening this weekend, April 23rd & 24th from 10am to 3pm both days, rain or shine. Approximately 70% of the facility will be open, much more than is normally accessible to the public. You will see the Medical Room, Intensive Care, and you can walk through a few of the flight cages including the 90 foot Pool Cage that is stocked with live trout (sorry, no fishing allowed unless you are an Osprey).
There will be lots of food available, activities for the kids, presentations and displays from other wildlife conservation groups (Northern Spotted Owl Breeding Program, and the Hancock Wildlife Foundation to name just two).
We have some great Raffle Prizes like a BC Ferries trip to Victoria, a Whale Watching Tour, an Owl Lovers Basket and many more.
Perhaps the highlight of each day will be the release back to the wild of a rehabilitated Bald Eagle at 1pm both days. This is so exciting to watch - I am fortunate enough to have been involved in many releases over the years and it's still a thrill.
I've only scratched the surface of what's going on so please see either our web site: http://www.owlcanada.org/ or our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/OWL-Orphaned-W ... 845544617/ for more information.
100% of the funds raised from this event will go the care and feeding of these magnificent birds of prey.
Thank you for your continued support.
