I just got back from a visit to England to visit my daughter and extended family. Not a birding trip at all but I was surprised at how many interesting birds I was able to see on a few short walks. Also the British have such interesting bird names, someday I have to see a Twite!

I hear they are having a real problem with those invasive Rose-ringed Parakeets.

Thanks, Mel, it was great to see our daughter who lives there now.
Those Smews are neat-looking for sure! and the parakeets are becoming a problem, the CBC did a story on this last week.

Who knew they had such exotic birds in England! I think the Smew will be one of my new favorite birds and the Great Crested Grebe is stunning, thanks for sharing
