Wilson's Snipe - Check!

Wilson's Snipe (Gallinago delicata).
Stanley Park, Sept. 23rd.
Snipes i consider A+ birds, at least to me. Had rotten luck with them locally for years, had to go to Iceland to finally get some shots of a Snipe (Common) but our Wilson's remained elusive. Last winter i finally succeeded in shooting numerous snipe in Thailand and i felt i was finally getting the snipe jinx off my back. Now i smile because the frustrating Wilson's is finally a big check in my book of shots i can live with.
As usually happens with me and snipe - i flush them by accident (because they are hidden) and the bird flies off and lands somewhere, hidden. This time it landed on the path in front of me and stayed still! even allowing me to creep up a number of times until it was full frame! nice when the bird gods smile down at you.

Great photos. I have flushed the snipe on a few occasions and have yet to get a photo. The birding gods smiled upon you.
