Despite living next to a popular barred owl hangout (Delta Nature Reserve) for nearly 20 years, I've never been able to get a clear photo of one till today.

Not super high quality as I had my cheaper gear with me, but I'm happy to finally have something...





He (she?) was happy to pose for the camera until an obnoxious Steller's Jay showed up and pestered him/her away.

Excellent and congrats!
I've got a spot on the north shore that has been pretty reliable over the years for sightings of Barred but i know what you mean about curses and owls i feel that way about Northern Pygmy-owls (yes, i've shot them but never as close as some of the great shots i see all the time).

Found another this afternoon at Blackie Spit. Had a better lens with me this time, but he couldn't seem to stay awake for the portraits.
