My friends always go fishing with their fishing buddies.
So I was just wondering that is anyone normally do birding or bird photographing with friends? or People are more willing do it by themselves?

Do we have small Birding / Bird Photographing group in this forum?

Thanks

I think most of us are the "Lone Ranger" types. :D

But I'm open to the idea of going to a few places with other birders. I've done an afternoon's worth of birding with Debra, and I sometimes see some forum members at the birding hotspots. I think we could learn from each other should we manage to go birding together instead of just communicating on the forum.

I think of birding as a very social thing, actually. When I've gone to see a rare bird, barely any time is spent looking at the bird. It often turns out to be more of a catch-up session and just chatting about various aspects of the hobby and beyond. I also go out birding with friends almost every week.

I think the social component elevates it a bit, but you probably have moments with the birds that are more special when you're by yourself. Something like that, anyways. Birding, I have been known to say, is my form of getting zen. I often go to a place by myself when there is a lot going on and just let the thoughts flow, occasionally checking out birds. Very peaceful.

Anyways, it's worth getting out with others if you haven't done so already. You may meet life long friends or perhaps you'll find out it's not for you!

more eyes see more birds.
I have recently organized a trip to the spanish pyrenee mountains with 3 friends, and we saw tons of birds, i have seen 75% of my wish-list. i would have never seen al those birds by myself.

An other thing i like about biring with friends is one can share his enthousiasm, this makes one less likely to be thought of as an idiot when you "yess" or "wow" when straring at bushes with multiple people. :)

Many times I go out with a buddy, but there are times when the solidarity factor come is. I can sit watch the birds and photograph them without worrying whether the other person want to move on or whatever.
I always enjoy meeting new people into the same thing though.

I will sometimes go out with a friend, but I find I will usually go out alone. I am more than willing to hang out with other members of this forum to go shooting sometime though! Birds of a feather should flock together!
