Was recently down in Costa Rica and did some birding in Monteverde, Arenal, and Cano Negro. Here are a few pics from the trip.

1. One of my favorites - the Montezuma Oropendola


2. A pair of Blue-crowned Motmots.


3. Bare-throated Tiger Heron.


4. Gray-necked Wood-Rail.


5. Some kind of hummer - not sure which.


6. Two shots of the Resplendent Queztal who were all over there place.

9. And finally, another one of my favorites - the Great Potoo.

Great pics, the hummingbird is a female Green Hermit. I was in CR this February also, incredible place but I missed out on the Quetzal, jealous!

When I look at these amazing birds I keeping thinking of the children's books by Doctor Seuss and I can't help but think that these birds could be the inspiration for some of his wonderful creatures.

Nice shots! Quetzals are amazing, and that oropendola's bill barely looks real!
