Nesting birds on Vancouver Island

I was really hoping to get some good photos of nesting birds this spring but am not all that experienced in finding good locations or nests to photograph. I was wondering if anyone knew of good locations in or around Victoria where I may be able to find a good subject to get some photos of.

Shooting nesting birds is somewhat controversial, I know that BirdForum (UK forum) doesn't even allow shots of nesting birds to be posted due to fears of nest endangerment.

It's also against the law i believe to disturb the nest of a migratory bird so if you do find a nest and decide you need the shot, don't disturb anything, that means moving branches etc. to get a better shot, it could endanger the birds by making them visible to predators.

I don't think you will get too many takers as far as people willing to give out nesting locations honestly.
The best ones are the ones you find yourself anyways.

I assumed that and am very aware of not disturbing nests. I was more looking for a general area, was worth a try.

If you are looking for an accessible Great Blue Heron heronry there is a huge one at the foot of the Tsawassen ferry jetty in the trees, there is also a smaller one near lost lagoon in Stanley Park.
