I think this duck is a Lesser Scaup. Whatever it is, it sure caught my attention when I was out the other day.

My subject was so far away when I shot it I thought it was a “Great Blue”. It wasn’t until I Photo shopped it that I saw it’s a Black-crowned Night Heron. What a nice surprize to find this bird foraging during the day.

Two years of quietly stalking the high grass looking for my first Bittern and then a few days ago this so called “elusive bird” posed for the camera for the longest time. Who knew?

A beautiful Wood Duck posing for the camera.
