Hi all, I want to take a friend to see the snowy owls on Friday, which he has never seen before, and I was wondering if they are still at Boundary Bay? I have been searching the internet for any news about if they're still here, but can't find anything.

Thanks for your help!

They are still at the bay, but there are less (around 18 birds are still there) than there used to be (they are starting to migrate back to the arctic).

Just a quick update - I dragged my son and his girlfriend there Saturday April 7 and we were fortunate enough to see a single owl still on the logs but I was unable to spot any others within range of my binoculars. He was putting on a bit of a show, preening and being generally more animated than I've seen on previous visits. I do believe this remaining owl hasn't begun his return because he is enjoying the attention!

(I'm gonna bike back out there tomorrow (Monday) armed with field guide to determine if those sparrows hopping among the logs are Chipping Sparrows or American Tree Sparrows).

Hi I was there fri and we counted over 25 only 15 close and very flighty ( there was a Coyote hunting them for up to an hour trying to creep up from behind I assume they have been hunting them for a while he seemed to know how to get close )..

Monday April 9. Walked dyke West from 72nd St around to 12th Ave in Tsawwassen. No Snowy Owls to be seen. Checked with some serious birders along the way, including a woman from Bellingham armed with a tripod-mounted telescope, and they had seen none. (Couldn't find and verify my Chipping Sparrows but did log my first Savannah Sparrow and Short-Eared Owl).
