I regularly see this bird and have paged through the books (2 of them) many times and just cannot find what it can be. It is just grey and white with the fine black beak and about 7 or 8 inches tall, perches on the top of a tree and acts like a flycatcher as it chases insects and goes straight back to the same perch. Please help! This bird is seen in the Terrace area next to Lakelse Lake in BC, today. Both my birdbooks contains photos and none has these colors, I see most flycatchers have 2 colored beaks and the kingbirds are more colourful. Just cannot find this one. Bigger than a Tree Swallow and smaller than an American Robin.

I cannot speak for others, but I have never been, am not now, nor will I ever be a member of Facebook - or other similar "services".

Hence, I cannot view the image to which you link. I also suspect that Facebook does not allow direct links to items on members' pages.

It could be an Eastern Kingbird, but even though I'm also a Facebook member, I can't see the photo.

That looks like a pale Mountain Bluebird to me.

I'd be inclined to agree. The size and behaviour also fits bluebirds.

This is the Mountain Bluebird - I saw lots of them just yesterday in Smithers - I am convinced but could be wrong that the Bluebird is quite a bit smaller. The beak is as fine as a bluebirds'. Also the original bird is always solitary if that could help. I see it year after year in the Terrace area and I have never seen a Bluebird there (yet). Never a hint of blue, just grey.

You've posted a photo of a male bluebird, your original photo shows a drab female.
Blue birds are bigger than a swallow yet smaller than a robin. The beak of your mystery bird fits because it is a bluebird. Females don't show the obvious blue, that's why you're confused.
I'm sure female bluebirds in Smithers will fit the general shape of your "mystery" bird.

Thank you all for the answers, I am happy now with the female Mountain Bluebird. Did not expect that and needed all of your answers! Wonderful to have a website and fellow birder's help like this.
