I was at Hamilton Marsh near Qualicum this morning and ran into this Canada Goose with a large neck tag. I have never seen this before, does anyone have information as to what it is all about.

It is part of a project attempting to prove that inroduced Canada Geese on Vancouver Island are non-migratory. I believe that bird was banded at Craig Bay in June of 2010.

You might also encounter birds with white neck collars reading "K" and then three digits. Those birds were all banded at the Little Qualicum estuary.
