I thought I would get out before the rains hit tomorrow morning and was able to get a few decent images.

Another Male Western Tanager, they seemed to be competing for the affections of the female.

Baldies are hard to pass up, this one was guarding the nest.

Keith, there are lots of beautiful birds in your area, and you have been capturing them in frames beautifully. Great job! I wish we can see some of those tanagers here in Vancouver :)

Nice Tanager shots.....

Actually, they have been coming through Vancouver these past couple of weeks. Riefel Bird Sanctuary has had them in the morning hours (along with Black-headed Grosbeaks) for the past couple of weeks in the Northwest coniferous trees trail areas. I heard one singing its American Robin-like song Sunday morning downtown from my apartment near English bay. I looked intently from my window (for about 20mins) down to the surrounding trees and (I think) I saw the female fly out of one of the trees Northward towards Stanley Park. They are rare here but do make their appearance here this time of year as they migrate Northward to the interior and beyond up to the Territories.

Keep your eyes focused near coniferous tree forests or areas that lead to such. That is what they prefer to surround themselves with. Good luck finding them.

Thank you very much for this info, I'll definitely visit Reifel very soon!
