the STORYBOARD: while you're sifting through your shots for Paul's Top 3, you may find some that don't make Wildlife Photographer Top 3 but convey a story you remember well and want to tell ie nesting, feeding, hunting, entanglements, human interaction, survival, migration, conservation, whatever touched you. This thread is for our stories.
1. "Collie"-the GHOW owlet at Colquitz River Park, (2016 January offspring of the famous Planter hooters parents Ollie & Oulette at Pacific Forestry Centre, Hancock cam Jan 2013) has survived a 100' fall from a crow attack on the nest, a 3 day trip to the Vet, and being plunked back in a tree, where she climbed up 75' and clung on until her parents picked her up once more. This extremely hot day in June, she was gular fluttering low in a tree a few feet off the river, feathers pushed down like a summer squash, just trying to stay cool.
2."little Rosie"-the Osprey chick at Royal Athletic Park on Vancouver St often cried out for her parents for hours when they flew the distance to inner harbour to hunt. (it always feels like a long time when you are young.) finally, she flew to the light standard in the parking lot and sat above me watching a man dog-walk 5 dogs and a bottle cart rattling down the sidewalk. her Mom came and scooped her up, showed her how to catch the wind, and escorted her back to the nest (where she didn't want to be, but stayed.)
