As an animal control professional who deals with dozens of problem squirrels annually, they can be quite a nuisance. They are a polarizing species, some people adore their antics, others would prefer to see rats.
Live trapping and releasing of squirrels isn't just a bad idea and a waste of time, its also ILLEGAL. As everyone should know, releasing invasive species (even those that are established) is against the law. If you live trap a squirrel, you're required to dispose of it in a humane manner. The issue is that most methods of disposal, shooting, drowning, CO2, are equally if not more illegal than just releasing the little monsters.
If you're seriously concerned about controlling problem squirrels, call a pest control company to eliminate them or order yourself a few of these babies and watch your fingers
