Got these two shots in Osoyoos, Two weeks ago.
I think the first one is some sort of Flycatcher, and the second one, I have no clue about.
Help, please

Hi Gary,

The first bird is actually a Yellow-rumped Warbler and the second bird is a female Red-winged Blackbird. The second bird is a little tricky because it almost looks like it has yellow on the face but it's just a very buffy face. The back gives it away to not be a Yellow-headed blackbird with all the rufous edging to the feathers.

More info on both species found here:

If you don't already have a field guide I recommend this great one:

Cheers,
Mel

Thanks, Mel.
I do have the Sibley's, but both these birds sure confused me. I see now the Warbler is a 'first winter' female. Much appreciated.
Gary

Hey Gary,

Regarding the Yellow-rumped Warbler it's definitely a first winter bird.

No worries, this is the place to ask they can be tricky especially that blackbird!

Have a great one,
Mel
