Hello all,
I watched a dainty gull, on its own, at the right-hand side of the road in to Garcia Farms, picking away at a fresh swan (I think) carcass. (I didn't get out to check if it was a swan).
None of the features I picked out matched anything I could for certain attribute to any particular gull. Maybe a first winter mew gull? (Because it swallowed a feather!) But it was all alone and had finer features, I thought.
With small beak, faded pink feet and a smudgy black eye-ring, and beautiful tail feathers!
I have uploaded a series of 11 shots to flickr and would be grateful for points of reference that ID this bird.

Thank You!
