Hello!
This is my first time posting here, so I am using links to dropbox rather than attempting to embed the photo and video. Hope that works for people.

On July 1st, I saw 4 sandpipers at the pond at Vanier Park in Vancouver. Two were Least, one was Western, and the fourth is the one I am unsure about. It's about the size of the Western, has a shorter, stubbier bill, and lacks rufous colors - more brown/gray than the Western. Not totally clean flanks, but pretty clean. I think it might be a Semipalmated Sandpiper. But maybe it's a male Western? Semipalmateds aren't reported on ebird at this site much, but they're not that far away (e.g. Iona)

And here's a link to a video. The first bird in the video is one of the Leasts, the second bird is the mystery bird, and the third bird is the Western. The music is not mine! There was a stage with music nearby at the time.

Thanks for any ideas and tips for sandpipers.

I am not sure but I think this is a Semi-palmated Sandpiper. Bill does look short and the bird appears to have more grey that what I would expect on both Least and Westerns. Need a shorebird expert here to go through the markings to see if it is something more rare.

Cheers,

Kevin
