Hello,

I am Jan-Paul and I recently moved to Vancouver Island from Germany. I live now in Brentwood Bay and I am discovering all the beautiful birds of the PNW. Yesterday (05/11) we discovered a Downy Woodpecker nest (cave?) at Gore Nature Park. It is easy to find. Just spend 2-3 minutes at the picnic area and you will hear the youngling call for food! The youngling will probably not be there for much longer, it looks quite mature already.

Good luck finding the nest. I would be very happy to connect to some local birders which like to walk in a group from time to time. There is so much new to learn and it is for sure easier with experienced birders advice.

Cheers,
JP
