I just came across a sighting of a ferruginous hawk "in Jaffray near Cranbrook a few days ago". This was on the site Whatbird.com/forum . Here is the link:

The photos are not publicly accessible but they are definitely ferrug. I will ask for more details on location.

Good birding, Joshua

Awesome thanks for posting Josh! I was just going to post about it.

Looks like he had it perched and in flight near the intersection of Jaffray Baynes Lakes Rd and Atwood Rd.

I have emailed the observer for more details great BC bird!

Just heard back from Jessy he told me that he saw the bird at 10am on the I.D.E.A.L. Ranch which is private property and actually near Jaffray Baynes Lake Rd and Damstrom Rd. The bird was perched on a telephone pole for at least 15min before it took flight. It flew over the ranch several times for at least 5min. He lost sight of it and has not seen it since.

Cheers,
Mel
