Searching to identify the owl I recently saw I found this forum.
Driving late at night (130 am) on a dark farm country road I saw standing on the side of the road a huge white owl! Having never seen one like it I googled images and identified it as a snowy owl. Had no idea that they we living in our community.
For those of you who might be interested this was on Chapman Road in Rosedale, B.C. about 400 feet North of the Yale Road/Chadsey Road bridge ;)

You most likely saw a Barred Owl which is white too. While a Snowy Owl is a rarer, sometime visitor in winter months, a Barred Owl is more likely, especially at night.
