To Matthew Cameron, and those wondering what the bird is that sounds similar to the black capped chickadee. I wondered this myself and found out this year at Swan Lake in Victoria.

It is the golden crowned sparrow. It has an identical "hey sweetie" song, plus one additional note.

Hi Willow, Thanks for responding. This thread is from about 3 years ago. We had just moved to the area and were still getting a feel for the local birds.
