I got out the last couple of mornings when the rain finally stopped and got lucky with few shots. the Pygmy Owl hooted for about 2 hours before he disappeared into the trees, I guess he was looking for a girlfriend. I think it is a Blue Grouse but I am not sure.

wow, you had yourself a perfect day! beautiful shots Keith.
I like how the Pygmy is all puffed up in display mode (maybe he was just anxious). hope he attracts a mate.
Former lumped Blue Grouse category has been split into Sooty Grouse (coastal, bigger tail band, tend to be a bit darker) and Dusky Grouse (interior) according to Peterson Field Guide.
sending 100 Cdn Geese your way (north). quite a sight about 1000 ft up in a huge V with a single line trailer, honking loudly. Spring is definitely here if the geese are migrating north.
