Wow, great capture of the Red Tailed Hawk there Bill. Nice pose and the red tail showing off. Nice one. Looking forward to some more sunny breaks this week to get out for some more walks.

There was a glimmer of brighter sky this afternoon so I took a walk down to the boat basin docks in Steveston and found an American Coot in good light and staying fairly close by. I know I posted a Coot last week from Iona, but it was a distant shot, so I just wanted to provide an updated better shot here:

Some sunny breaks and some walks in the neighbourhood between errands provided a couple new birds for the list. First up, some Canada Geese, and one of them is radio collared for an Environment Canada study to track their movements:

And a Hooded Merganser female, to go with the Hooded Merganser male posted earlier:

That's some pretty impressive photos, everyone! Very nice -- we are on a pretty good clip. I notice every year, though, that we can reach 220 pretty easily -- it's that next level (around 250) that gets really tough. Maybe this year! :D

Here are three more from my backyard:
1) A Mourning Dove ... beautiful birds.

2) Female California Quail ... hiding under the Boxwoods. I'll add the mail when I have some nice sunlight for detail ...

3) Finally, a small flock of American Goldfinches starting to show some color. When they are in mating color, we can add more:

Keep up the great work! Thanks for everyone who has contributed.
