Hey everyone,

Just came back from a 10-day birding trip in southern Colombia (mainly around Pitalito, Mocoa and the edges of the Amazon foothills), and honestly… I’m still trying to process how magical it was. I’ve done a few birding tours before (Ecuador, Costa Rica), but this was on another level. :o

The diversity is insane — tanagers, hummingbirds, and so many antbirds I lost count. I think one of the highlights for me was spotting the White-plumed Antbird and then, just when I thought the day couldn’t get better, a pair of Cock-of-the-Rock males doing a little dance near San Agustín.

I was mostly with local guides (highly recommend that), and stayed at small eco-lodges. It’s rustic in some places, but totally worth it for the wildlife and how welcoming everyone is. :)

Just wondering — has anyone tried birding closer to the Putumayo river area or even beyond into Leticia? I’m tempted to plan something more remote next time but not sure about logistics or safety. Would love any tips! :P
