Hi there, I am seeing what I think are common grackles around the Deep Cove Store, Gas Station and nearby farms on West Saanich Road. The Cowbirds are there as well, but much smaller. There appear to be two new Eaglets on the nest on the Epicure property - second brood ?

We have Brewer's Blackbirds in north Saanich. Perhaps this is what your are seeing.

Not sure about eagle having a second brood per year, maybe if the first eggs failed. I suspect the eagle family at epicure might be later nesters' as the parents incubate the eggs for about a month and then 60-90 days for the eaglets to fledge.
