Managed to find our second Shrike of the New Year already and we had one just after Christmas as well. Feel a good year ahead!

Ooooh, we finally got our Snowy Owl!!! Way to go Adam.
And not too shabby on the Harriers Ian.
I took full advantage of the nice weather today and made it out to both the White Rock Pier and to Brydon Lagoon in Langley. I've got several additions (only 14), and once again, sorry for being such a hog but I just can't help myself .
Here goes.....

Great work everyone - I think we may have a record year in the making... :D

I went for my annual 'try to get a Black Scoter that isn't a mile away' trip and found a Black Scoter... a mile away:

No such issue with the Sanderlings:

There was also a Red-breasted Merganser (male) swimming nearby:

And from yesterday, an American Tree Sparrow... in a tree.

I made it out to Piper Spit in Burnaby today. I was a little disappointed because it was so overcast by the time I got there. The pics aren't as bright and clear as I'd like, but it wasn't raining and it wasn't snowing so it's all good :D.

There was a long piece of grass in the way making it a little blurry around his head.

Hey, James...when you get time could you compile a list of what we've got so far? Thanks.

There is also a bonus orange-headed colour variant, and I presume male, in the top left of the first photo. I understand this colour variation to be dependent on the level of carotenoids in the diet.

I've only got 1 addition for today:

At least you got a Black Scoter Zach! I'm yet to see one.
I really like your "Snow Geese in Snow" Leeny - very artistic.

Here I go again. I was out and about around Boundary Bay today and this is what I ended up with.

Smithers has already posted both the male & female of the American Wigeon. In this flock it was too difficult to separate the 2 species so I give you both with my apology for the duplication.
