I purchased the lens Dec. 2010 and it's in great shape. It's never been abused, dropped or mistreated and still works as designed. I have the box and all the items that came with it.

If you know anything about this particular lens you know they will get the odd speck of dust inside. Regardless of what you do it will happen. Mine has one but it does not... I repeat... does not affect the image quality. The price of $1000.00 reflects quite a saving for a speck of dust.

It's been used mainly for aircraft photography with some birds and landscapes thrown in not that it really matters.

You ask why it's for sale... I have a prime in my sights.
